I’m super excited about today’s blog which is my black-owned businesses haul.
It is so important to support black-owned businesses, it helps to close the racial wealth gap, support local communities, it helps create job opportunities within those communities, among other benefits. If you are interested in learning more information click HERE.
In support, I purchased products from different black-owned businesses, from beauty to food and all vegan and cruelty-free, and I’m super excited to share with you. [Video Available Below]
And now without further ado let’s begin!
1. Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30
Founded by Shontay Lundy in 2016. She specifically developed this sunscreen to hydrate and protect melanated skin without leaving a white residue. It’s vegan and reef safe and they recently debuted their kid’s sunscreen line BGS kids.
And did she deliver! This sunscreen is a cast of 0 and is a drugstore sunscreen as well! If you haven’t seen my drugstore sunscreen post, check it out here. Since it’s very hydrating, it might be a little heavy for oily skin during summer but during the dry, winter months it will give your skin the hydration it needs.
2. Mented Everyday Eyeshadow Palette
Mented is short for pigmented and was founded in 2017 by KJ Miller and Amanda E. Johnson who were looking for the perfect nude lipstick which sparked the idea of this brand.
With time they have expanded their brand and created other makeup products such as eyeshadows, blushes, and nail polishes (pictured below).
3. Mented Nude Nail Collection (3 nail polishes)
This nail polish color collection is FIRE! They were long-lasting and the colors are amazing, definitely can wear them all year long.
4. Coloured Raine Focal Point Glowlighter in Just Peach
Coloured Raine was founded in 2013 by Loraine R. Dowdy. leaving a high-powered job in the financial industry to pursue her dream. Loraine longed for a cosmetic line that encouraged self-expression and diversity and included shades for people of color. Her aim was to create a stand-out cosmetics line that broke all beauty barriers. This pressed highlighter is beautiful, you can wear it as a blush as well.
Propa Beauty Lipsticks
Propa Beauty Inc. is a new indie brand that launched on April 29, 2020. It is a woman-owned company out to create a community of beauty innovations while empowering women everywhere. They offer an array of different cosmetic products and these lipsticks were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Not only are the colors beautiful but they are so creamy and hydrating.
Baby Bum Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50
Founded by Nikkie Davis in 2010 after she started experimenting with formulas to soothe her son’s eczema with natural ingredients that would heal his eczema quickly. This brush soap is vegan and it’s amazing! It left my brushes super soft and clean. You can also buy refillables to keep reusing the container, it’s such a great product.
MayaMadeThis Jewelry
Founded in 2017 by Maya. She has an Etsy Shop where she sells beautifully designed jewelry. Everything handmade with gemstones and natural materials at affordable prices!
Symphony Potato Chips
Symphony Potato Chips began as a spice company before being founded in 2017. In order to sell their seasoning, they started sampling in vegetables, it was until they made homemade potato chips to sample their seasoning until people began to notice its unique flavor. And these are delicious! I ordered the mixed flavors pack which includes 3 originals and 3 smoked. Highly recommend you try them!
Maya’s Cookies
Are America’s #1 Black-Owned Vegan Cookie company!
As a vegan with a sweet tooth, she had not been able to find that perfectly delicious, soft-baked gourmet vegan cookie, so she spent years crafting her award-winning and crowd-pleasing recipes. From the classic to unique and forward-thinking flavors such as “Chocolate Chip S’mores” and “Marble Fudge”, every flavor has a story grounded in Maya’s travels, memories, and experiences. And they do not disappoint, they are delicious!
Walker Noble Studios
His mission is to “connect beautiful works of art with enthusiastic new owners. As a Black-owned company, one of the guiding principles of our shop is that everyone should be able to enjoy art. Walker Noble Studios is a convenient and interactive space for both art enthusiasts and collectors to find pieces that cater to a wide array of tastes.”
He also wanted to add and I quote:
“As an African American artist, it is imperative to me that our voices are heard in all spaces of expression. I stand in solidarity, not in silence – in the fight against systemic racism and injustice”
He is such an amazing artist, his work speaks to me and to many. Go check his artwork out, it is very inspiring.
